Connections Weaving Workshop

Thu, 17 June @ 10:00 - 15:00

A series of community workshops, culminating in the completion of a large outdoor sculptural installation in the grounds of the Cooktown Botanic Gardens. Members of the public will help to create a large outdoor installation – being a sculptural piece resembling a rambling vine, to be hung in the ground of the Gardens. This installation references botanical discoveries made and documented by crew from the HMAS Endeavour during time spent in the Cooktown area, and also acknowledges and references plant knowledge of the area’s inhabitants. Using contemporary basketry techniques, combined with natural materials and a jade green rope, the workshop participants will be making the leaves for this project.
